While a lot of electronic kits might leave you wanting that pure acoustic drum kit feel and response, the incomparable Roland V-Drums VAD506 Acoustic Design kit does precisely the opposite. Developed and configured to mimic an acoustic kit in terms of look and feel, as well as sound, this future-thinking kit comes with deep shells and a setup that's definitely not designed for quiet little home-rehearsals that won't bug the neighbours. This is a stage ready beat machine ready to take on the future of drumming.
Roland VAD506 Acoustic Design V-Drums
So, what can you expect from the Roland VAD506 Acoustic Design kit? On the face of it: a 5-piece kit, complete with wooden shells and a double-braced hardware pack. Which ... is true: a 10, 12, and 14-inch tom, a 14-inch snare and a 20-inch kick come included. But this is the PD-140DS digital snare and KD-200-MS Digital kick drum, and while each shell has been wrapped in a Midnight Sparkle finish, we've only covered the looks.
The Roland TD-27
Besides the shell-set, you get a 14-inch crash and a 16-inch crash-ride, but the cymbal pad that really steals the show is the outstanding 18-inch CY-18DR ride. This multi-sensor triggered cymbal has an unbelievable dynamic range alongside incredibly accurate input detection. The whole kit is driven by the Roland TD-27 sound module which, in turn, is driven by 'Prismatic Sound Modeling' - a 'neural' configuration lifted from the flagship TD-50 module.
Utterly Modern
What else can you expect? Well, since Roland seemingly designed this kit for the future, it comes with further features like Bluetooth so that audio can be streamed from a smartphone or computer. Your own WAV samples can be imported from an SD card and, since the VAD506 also comes with an integrated 18-channel USB audio interface, you have a professional-grade recording and performing machine under your sticks.

Ik speel sinds sept 21 op de VAD 506, als opvolger van mijn 12 jaar oude TD20-KX...de VAD is gewoonweg een fantastische kit ! Het speelgevoel is bijna hetzelfde als op een akoestische kit, en de nieuwe digitale snare en ride zijn een enorme verbetering qua sensivity en triggering ! De kick voelt ook echt aan als een echte kick, en de fonkelende finish van de VAD schittert mooi op een podium !
Ik heb de set voornamelijk gekocht om op een appartement te kunnen drummen, en heel binnenkort ga ik er voor de 1e keer live mee on stage ga spelen...ik kan niet wachten !
Enige minpunt : de VH-10 hi-hat voelt nogal goedkoop aan en draait constant rond, wat nogal irritant is, en de triggering is helemaal niet zo accuraat als de VH-12 vd TD20, jammer, een gemiste kans...!
Maar verder: met deze VAD 506 ben ik een nog grotere Rolandfan geworden dan ik al was...ROCK AND ROLL !!!
Un kit fantastique et qui a de la gueule. Une infinité de sons. On a vraiment le sentiment de jouer sur une vraie batterie acoustique. Les éléments et gabarits des toms sont les mêmes. Sensation et touché sont très bons ! Je ne regrette pas mon achat. Livraison très rapide. Merci BAX.

At this very moment, the line-up includes a total of three electronic drum kits, each of which is nearly impossible to tell apart from a real acoustic kit: the VAD506, the VAD503 and the VAD306.

Do not purchase one of these from this company, but elsewhere. Fantastic piece of gear if you receive the whole drum kit.
Our studio bought a bstock 506 but got send a the spec of a 503 worth considerably less in 506 boxes... they initially told us they would replace the missing items from our order (after weeks of us attempting contact) and now they’ve told us they can’t “compensate” the missing items that we have purchased. I do believe sending the missing items we’ve paid for is compensation but an attempt to take our money. They want us to send back in full for their mistake but we need to use this drum kit for business.
